The Foundation seeks to build progressive self-reliant rural communities - adopting a holistic approach - by providing services in healthcare, environment, sanitation, primary education, adult literacy and skills development. The Foundation currently works in 200 villages in 6 districts of Andhra Pradesh - East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Ranga Reddy and Visakhapatnam - positively transforming the lives of nearly 3 million people. The Difference - Building Soft Infrastructure

Holistic approach is the unique feature that distinguishes us from other non-profit organisations. The emphasis is on creation of "soft infrastructure" to capture knowledge processes that we use in our rural initiatives. Our transformation effort begins with the identification of the needs of the village we choose to work with and appropriately customising the programmes. The experience gained from every initiative allows us to make dynamic changes in our efforts to ensure optimum delivery. These experiences create knowledge processes that can be replicated thereafter with minimal customisation. The Foundation's activities are divided into various modules with well-defined value creation processes. Each module has a detailed process map with clear-cut methodologies ensuring successful implementation and realisation of intended objectives.

The Transformation Cycle

The Foundation follows a scientific process while adopting a village to implement its services. Steps are taken to involve the community so that objectives and goals are synchronised with ground realities. Identify needs - To identify the needs of the village, the Foundation conducts a preliminary profiling of the village covering the following aspects: » Demographic, social & economic profile of households. » Basic amenities already available in the village. » Availability of and access to welfare institutions. » Resource base and utilisation. » Employment status of residents. » Existence of village-based organisations. » Village 'Visioning' exercises. These assessments reveal urgent needs that the Foundation seeks to address. Design solutions - With the needs of the community in mind, the Foundation creates a platform for delivery of services using available best practices identified as the most appropriate for the village in question. Test & Validate - With the inputs obtained from the profiling exercise and designing of appropriate solutions, the processes are tested and validated in consultation with domain experts. Once validated, the solutions are cleared for implementation. Vision for self-reliance - Stakeholders from every village are selected keeping in mind their ability to contribute to the visioning process. Key attributes expected of the stakeholders are: general awareness, broad perspective, effective communication skills, domain expertise and general acceptability among the villagers. The group should be heterogeneous, comprising youth, village elders and women; and, wherever possible, elected members of the local panchayat. Capacity Building - The Foundation enhances the inherent capacity of the community by training people and providing opportunities for skill development and thereby nurturing community leadership. Community Leadership - Community Leadership is encouraged by strengthening the skills of people who participate in the Foundation's effort of shaping the community's future through team building, facilitating change and building consensus on the village vision. Franchising - The Foundation believes that franchising is a way to leverage expertise and effectively use the resources of the community. Franchisees are selected applying pre-determined criteria, which seek to determine the commitment, credibility and willingness of the franchisee to accept the Foundation's approach. Replication - The Foundation's programmes are field-tested before deploying resources and people. Once tested, the programme will be replicated. As a result, communities do not have to wait for a development programme to mature.

Centre for Rural Transformation (CRT)

Preparing India’s rural communities for knowledge economy is the primary challenge before the Foundation. It takes on board a number of domain experts to address this challenge. The Centre for Rural Transformation (CRT) is the nerve centre from where these experts operate. It provides conducive environment for creative thinking, encouraging the experts to contribute their intellectual wealth and develop innovative solutions that positively influence rural life. The CRT provides: Solution Design Centre - This is an info-structure where conceptual models and prototype solutions are designed by a team of experts for a wide range of issues concerning rural transformation. Mission Control Centre (MCC) - The MCC is equipped with electronic infrastructure that enables our affiliates to communicate and track the performance of development processes on the ground as they occur, which in turn facilitates proactive and real-time leadership through identified and set measures. Centre for Community Learning and Leadership - These centres emphasise capacity building for transformation through training and investing in the development of a set of process leaders within the villages as well as at the Foundation. At our state-of-the-art learning centres at Hyderabad and Bhimavaram training courses are offered to educate the community on the significance of the Foundation's five major initiatives: » Healthcare - Ushering in a better quality of life. » Education - A vital learning experience. » Environment & Sanitation - Keeping villages Clean and Green. » Livelihoods - Developing skills and abilities. » Virtual Delivery of Services.

The Raju Vegesna Foundation is a not for profit organization established by leading international entrepreneur Raju Vegesna to support the socio economic development of India with a focus on the less advantaged sections of society. The Foundation has identified specific areas of focus which it believes will benefit the country in terms of enhancing employability, improving the quality of life as well as the health of India's citizens. This includes the less advantaged economically, and those who are differently-abled in society.

Dantuluri Narayana Raju College was established in 1945, before Indian Independence, and was an offshoot of the National movement and renaissance thinking. Being agrarian, the Godavari region had been kept out of the higher academic activities in the pre-Independence period. Sri Dantuluri Narayana Raju, a freedom fighter, an activist and a visionary wanted to provide the uneducated rural masses with the hither to unthinkable and unreachable source for their overall development and welfare i.e. higher education. That visionary, with the help of limited number of committed lieutenants and Philanthropists, strived hard with a missionary zeal and realised the establishment of a college at Bhimavaram, Known as West Godavari Bhimavaram (W.G.B) College in 1945. In 1964 it was re named as Dantuluri Narayana raju (D.N.R) College in memory of its founder. The introduction of post graduate courses in 1971 is a milestone in the history of the college. The infrastructure available in the colldge became an impetus for starting an Engineering College in 1980. In view of the outstanding academic excellence maintained by the college since its inception, the college was conferred autonomy in the year 1987, by the University grants commission. It is a matter of great pride that D.N.R.College has grown from strength to strength, achieved tremendous Progress, and won the laurels of one and all under the most efficient and benign guidance of D.N.R.College Management since its inception. Under the fervent stewardship of various office bearers and members of the college Management, D.N.R.College has reached the peak of glory. The erstwhile Managements under the leadership of former Presidents Sri R. Venkataramayya, Sri G. Venkaiah Naidu, Sri G. Mohan Das, Sri T. Krishna Murthy, Sri G. Jagannadha Raju, Sri G. Ranga Raju, Sri Bh. Vijaya Kumar Raju, Sri G. Ranga Raju (Murali), and Sri Ch. Sreeranganadha Raju and the former Secretary and Correspondents Sri Dantuluri Narayana Raju, Sri G. Jagannadha Raju, Sri G. S. Ramabhadra Raju, Sri M. Rama Raju, Sri D. Bapi Raju and Sri G. V. Narasimha Raju have contributed a lot for the tremendous development of the college. The newly elected Governing body of the college Association under the young and dynamic leadership of Sri G. V. Narasimha Raju, President and Sri V.Suryanarayana Raju, Secretary & Correspondent has been very actively striving for further development of the college and they are also planning to start new courses both at undergraduate and Post Graduate levels. More than adequate infrastructural facilities such as furnished lecture halls, independent and well equipped laboratories, one of the biggest and orderly maintained library consisting of about 75,000 books, a huge auditorium, a big play ground with eight line running track, two tennis courts, a modern gymnasium, a basket ball court with international standards, etc have been provided by the college management. Additional facilities such as student information Bureau, book stores, canteen, post office, commercial Bank, Medical Health Centre, etc., have been provided for the benefit of the student community. Two big hostels one for boys with about 1000 intake capacity and the other for girls with about 500 intake capacity are provided by the management for the benefit of students from far off rural places. In addition to these a student maintained hostel is also catering to the needs of some more students. Moreover a new building called Subbaraju Bhavan named after Datla Subba Raju garu, father of a philanthropist Datla Achutha Rama Raju garu of Penumantra village, was constructed to provide free Lodging and Boarding facility for about 250 non-scholarship meritorious students. For the benefit of the students who can not afford regular college education, the college is hosting the distance education centre of Andhra university and also that of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University. During 21st-23rd February, 2005 a peer team constituted by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) visited the college. After thorough inspection, the peer team was very much satisfied with the academic excellence, infrastructural facilities such as buildings, laboratories, library, sports and games, outstanding alumni etc., On the recommendation of the peer team the executive committee of NAAC was pleased to declare D.N.R.College (Autonomous) with accredition at the 'A' level. It is one of the most significant achievememts of the management of D.N.R.College Association, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and the student community at large. The College Completed 60 Years as a Premier institute in the field of higher eduction and celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 2006-07. The D.N.R.College has been developed to such a great level that it is not only one of the biggest colleges at the national level but also the most prestigious institution, the credit of which certainly goes to the committed Managements, dedicated staff and the students with the highest degree of discipline and backed by the grace of Almighty.

Sagi Ramakrishnam Raju Engineering College (SRKR Engineering College), is a co-educational, independent and a private Engineering college. It is one of the oldest seminaries formed in 1980’s to provide a better quality technical education to students. The college is located in the country side with a scenic beauty in a 30 acres plot in Chinna-Amiram on Bhimavaram - Juvvalapalem state highway; just 2 miles from Bhimavaram town, that is well known as “Second Bardoli” and is famous for “Pancharamas” (Somaramam). B.V.R.I.T. is one of the best among the J.N.T.U affiliated colleges, because of collective effort of college management and staff. Though it is a little bit far away from the city of Hyderabad, distance doesn’t matter with good transportation facilities. Raju was the founder Chairman of the Society, who hailed from a humble agricultural family of Kumudavalli near Bhimavaram. He was a graduate in Chemical Engineering from Benaras Hindu University (BHU) and also a Post Graduate in Management from Harvard University, USA. He started his career in the Cement Industry and over a span of six decades established a number of cement factories in India and abroad and was considered to be a doyen of the Cement Industry. He served as Chairman of Cement Corporation of India. After having made a mark in the Industrial sector, Dr. B.V. Raju decided to contribute towards the development of Education and also social causes. Towards meeting these objectives, he set up Dr. B.V.Raju Foundation and Sri Vishnu Educational Society. In recognition of his services to Educational sector and society at large, he was awarded “Doctorate” by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad and was conferred the coveted “Padmabhushan” by the Government of India. PRESENT CHAIRMAN Sri K.V Vishnu Raju, the Managing Director of Anjani Portland Cement Ltd., Hyderabad has taken over as the Chairman after the demise of the founder Chairman. He graduated in chemical Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Thiruchirappalli, obtained Masters degree from the prestigious Michigan Technological University, USA and worked for two years in Du-Pont, one of the World’s top ranking U.S. Chemical industries. Sri K.V. Vishnu Raju is the motivating force in steering and expanding the horizons of the Foundation and Society towards excellence in all its academic and professional endeavours. SECRETARY Sri. P. Krishnaganga Raju is the Secretary of Sri Vishnu Educational Society. Born and brought up in Poduru, W.G. Dist. His early education was in Poduru, Marteru and Bhimavaram. Studied B.A. Honours with Psychology & Philosophy in Madras Christian College, Madras University. After his education he concentrated on his Agricultural farm and developed high yielding varieties. He played a key role in introducing the early second crop which is the culminating point in the entire delta to have a second crop every year. He played an important role in promoting Raasi Cements and making farmers as Promoters of that Company which is first of its kind. He was a close associate of Padmabhushan Dr. B.V. Raju for 30 years. He is instrumental in starting these institutions along with Dr. B.V. Raju garu. Basava Raju is the Director of Sitha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Gangaraju is a visionary. As an industrialist, Dr. Gangaraju realized that there is no symbiosis between the academic institution and the industry. An amateur technologist is almost at bay when he enters the industry the first time, because what he has learned in the classroom has very little relevance to his responsibilities and functions in the industry. The industry also finds it burdensome to train him to its needs. Often the theoretical knowledge of the young graduate is very high, but he lacks even the minimum practical skills. Dr. Gangaraju knows that a properly trained technologist with a strong practical bias is an asset to the industry and only such an industry can flourish and prosper. It is with this idea that Dr. Gangaraju with the support of an accomplished and experienced team of committed and dedicated professional experts launched our flagship, Gokaraju Rangaraju Educational Society. Its main objective is to promote technological, medical and management educational institutions for the overall benefit of the country in general, and the state in particular. Against this background, Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology was established in 1997 with the required infrastructure and great expectations. The faculty and other resource persons have been chosen with great care since they constitute the very means of successfully realizing the avowed objectives. Shri Gokaraju Gangaraju Garu The year 2003 witnessed the addition of another technical institution, Gokaraju Rangaraju College of Pharmacy, with a view to grooming pharmacy graduates with very sound empirical knowledge and practical skills so that these young graduates can find immediate employment in the industry. Hence the focus now is on the infrastructure facilities in this College so that it may attain internationally acceptable standards. To facilitate this the Laboratories have been provided with equipment better than those recommended by AICTE and PCI. It is envisioned that post-graduate courses and research programmes of highest quality could be made available to our young aspiring students.
